Today we welcome back the lovely Maygreen Fairies, who also took part in our spring fair. Her creations couldn’t be more suited to our fairy tale theme so we can’t wait to see her wonderful fairy items again! If you missed her last time you can find out more about her…

Tell us a bit about you and what you do/ make….

I am a self taught Mixed Media & Altered Artist who enjoys creating whimsical art using vintage photos, materials and findings. I live in the Sussex Countryside with my husband and young twin boys.

How long have you been making your craft items?

I began creating whimsical Artist Trading Cards when my twin boys were babies, some seven years ago now, the rest of my creations evolved over those seven years to where I am now.

Do you have a best seller? If so what is it?

I have several popular items, but the pieces that get the most attention, particularly at Fairs I attend are my Fairy Jars, each Fairy is suspended inside the Jar on an invisible thread which means that the Fairies appear to flutter and move inside the Jar. I also offer a Bespoke Service where you can have a loved one bottled as a Fairy or Mermaid, these make lovely gifts and are also popular as Bridesmaids Gifts at Weddings.

Fairy Cage2

What do you enjoy most about your craft?

I love attending Fairs and having all my hard work on display, meeting people and chatting about my creations and seeing clients faces when they come across my Fairy Jars for the first time, or read one of my cheeky Fairy Cards, it’s great to make people smile through my Art.

Do you take part in other craft events (fairs, open houses, markets etc…)?

For the past three years I have taken part in the Wealden Times Mid Winter & Mid Summer Fairs, I also attend the Kitsch & Stitch Vintage & Makers Fair in Cranbrook, The Pop-Up Vintage Fair in Hassocks & Lewes and have my Art on display in the village of Firle for Artwave, the Lewes Open House & Studio Event. In addition I have Open Studio Events that I run myself at The Little White Studio in Horam where I teach workshops with my Artist friend Karen.

Lavender Pillows

What are your plans/ ambitions for the future? Or have you already achieved them?

I am currently working on a range of “Printed” Art Greetings Cards that I plan to promote to small Gift Boutique Shops and Art Galleries in the hope that they will stock and sell the Range. I am also hoping to sell some of my Bespoke Items, such as my Fairy Jars through Not On The High Street.

A festive gift from…Georgie Arts

Today we welcome back Georgie Arts who makes the most beautiful embroidered textile art. She has made many fairy themed items especially for the fair including fairy wishes notebooks and toadstool sitter greetings! Find out more about her below…

“I’m really looking forward to the fairies getting me in the Christmas spirit and kicking off my seasonal celebrations in style.”- Tina, Georgie  Arts.

Tell us a bit about you and what you do/ make….

I’m a textile artists primarily specialising in embroidery, so make scrumptious, textured goods encrusted in embroidery and beading and full of rich colour. If I can find a way to stitch on it I will.

What festive gifts and creations will you be selling at The Fairy Tale Fair?

I’ll be bringing my ever popular occasion bags and greetings cards along with a wide selection of affordable gifts just right for filling all your loved ones stockings. These will include sweet smelling fairy pomanders, little- but lavishly embroidered notebooks and albums, tiny treasure boxes, shadow boxes and much, much more.

You took part in our last Fairy Tale Fair, did you enjoy it and did you find your creations were popular with visitors?

Yes, we had a great day at the last fair, meeting customers old and new and really enjoyed the friendly fairy filled atmosphere. The fairy pomanders which made their debut at the last fair sold out and it was packed in the morning. I think everyone wanted to get the best of the gifts before they sold. I finally managed to shop myself in the afternoon and there was such a great range of goodies on offer it was hard not to splurge all the takings & leave with twice as much as I arrived with!

Will you be taking part in other events over the festive period (fairs, open houses, markets etc…)?

At the moment I’m not booked elsewhere as I’ve got orders to fill for special bespoke greetings and gifts which can be ordered through my website, but if I get cracking I might fit in another event. News will be on my website. But this is the main chance to snap up your ‘off the peg’ goodies.

Any other comments you wish to make:

I’m really looking forward to the fairies getting me in the Christmas spirit and kicking off my seasonal celebrations in style. Georgie Arts looks forward to seeing you there and hopes you all enjoy a beautiful fairyfull Christmas and a peaceful new year.

We look forward to welcoming Georgie Arts and her fairy creations on the day! Find out more on her website here: www.georgiearts.co.uk

6 Days to go…Reason 6 to visit our fair!

Take Part in A Craft Workshop & Learn Something New!
We have 7 different craft workshops to suit those of all ages, from toddlers to nannies! Why not make a beautiful piece of jewelley with Pagette, our jewellery maker. Choose from her wonderful beads and materials and make one of items handmade by yourself. Or how about gift felting a soap or Brighton rock with Karen Rao and learn her skill of felting. You can also make your own Christmas or greeting card with Vickie from Patcham Papercrafters and give to someone as an extra special keepsake card.
There will also be a Polymer clay workshop with Ilona who will show you how you can make beautiful cakes (and other items) out of the clay and take home to bake yourself! As well as this you can make your own tree decoration with SHISHOO and have fun cutting up and sticking bits of felt and materials to create your own unique characters and decorations. We also have Lindy Wells conducting a memory gift workshop where you can use vintage fabrics to sew (or glue!) a beautiful memory gift of your choice. And finally you can also get your very own letter from the fairies or elves, personalised to you, with added lucky stars and fairy dust! Magical!

A Festive Gift From…The Silver Hut

Today we speak to Chloe from The Silver Hut. Chloe took part in our last fair and makes beautiful and precious silver and gemstone jewellery. She has been busy making lots of new festive creations and some fairy themed items which will be perfect for the fair! Find out more…

Tell us a bit about you and what you make

Hello to all!
My name is Chloe Snuggs and I am owner and resident designer of The Silver Hut.
I make 925 and Tibetan silver, gemstone jewelry.

The Silver Hut is Brighton based and I love to use inspiration from the famous beaches we have here. My main collection is ‘The Sea Life Collection’ which incorporates beautiful blue, green and frothy white coloured gemstone’s and stunning 925 silver sea shells, to create some beautiful, artistic jewelry.

I also have a ‘Fairy Tale Collection’ which was inspired by our very own Fairy Tale Fair! I launched the collection for the last fair back in August and have now added some new designs ready for Christmas. This collection has some beautiful little 925 silver fairies, mermaids, frog princes, castles, cauldrons and more all set against gorgeous, natural gemstone’s.

What festive creations will you be selling at The Fairy Tale fair?

There will be a range of Christmassy themed jewelry that is great for gifts and stocking fillers, including beaded, Christmas charm bracelets, red and green Swarovski crystal earrings and bracelets and some novelty Christmas earrings and pendant sets.
The Silver Hut has an extensive ‘Occasion Wear’ collection which is perfect for all special engagements, all year round, so grab something sparkly for all those up coming parties!
And of course there will be plenty of Fairies!

You took part in the last Fairy Tale Fair, did you enjoy it and did you find your creations popular with visitors?
I thought that the last fair was brilliant!
The decor was fantastic with beautiful pompoms, fairy lights and some lovely stalls all selling gorgeous items. The cakes in tea shop were some of the best cakes I’ve ever seen, they were pieces of art on their own. There was a lovely vibe in the room from customers and stall holders! I think all the visitors appreciated the hard work that went in to this fair and they definitely loved all my new fairy tale creations!

Will you be taking part in any other events over the Christmas period?
Yes, The Silver Hut has another 5 events currently booked in the run up to Christmas, including Brighton Craft fair held at The Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton. The Brunswick Craft fair which is a new fair run by The Brighton Craft Alliance held in ‘The Brunswick’ Public House, Holland road, Hove. I like this fair as you can have a lovely Sunday roast and enjoy a calm relaxed afternoon in the craft fair! And also I will be back at the Makers Boutique just before Christmas day!
Busy, busy, busy!

Website and contact details:

The Silver hut has a Facebook page and website that you can check up on all future events, get a sneak peak on new collections before they are released and a link to The Silver Hut shop which is located on Etsy.com a site that is handmade heaven and full of some very talented designers!
