Meet Love from Lilla at Bartie’s

Please introduce yourself and what you create:

My name is Liz and I’m a frustrated creative type deep down who has finally decided to ‘have a go’ at doing something I love.

All my bracelets and cuffs are one-offs and are organic in their making … I have no pattern … they turn out as they want to! I can make bracelets and cuffs to order … let me know your size preference, colours and choice of bead, crystal, shell, stone or any other embellishment that I can knit with and I will source and create something lovely for you.

The rings you see are free sizes …. so try them on, try a lot on! If you don’t find one that fits, I’ll happily make one for you.

Button jewellery can be made to whatever spec you like. You tell me your favourite colours, I’ll send a photo suggesting a selection and once agreed, I will make and send off to you with love.

I will make some seasonal items which you will see posted throughout the year. Again, these can be customised to suit your colour schemes etc.

‘Love from Lilla’ because I put my heart into what I make and my husband, Ali, calls me Lilla!

Are you looking forward to selling at Bartie’s and do you have some lovely
festive gifts ready for everyone to buy?

Really excited about selling at Barties! Great venue and along with my jewellery I will have some Christmas tree decorations for sale. All made from clay then painted and finished with a ribbon.

image-9

What do you enjoy most about your craft?

Nothing never turns out the same twice!! Everything I make is unique … The rings are all different, as are the bracelets, cuffs and necklaces. That is what I love about what I do … Doesn’t have to be uniform to look gorgeous!

Are you selling at any other markets over the festive period?

Meet Stitch & Loop at Barties!

We are Amanda and Claire, two firm friends who, 18 months ago whilst shopping in beautiful Chichester (we may have had a coffee and a cake or two in Carluccio’s….), decided that we were not getting enough ‘making’ time and that we would meet once a week, on a Thursday, to drink fabulous coffee, make fabulous things and dream fabulous dreams. We did this for a year and then decided that we should make this work for us and our fledgling business, Stitch & Loop, was born. In effect, we are a business that has arisen from a mutual love of making beautiful handmade products around our kitchen tables.

We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone at Barties Boutique on Saturday and most certainly have some inspiring gifts for everyone for Christmas. These include:

Beautifully presented preserved lemons
Chunky vibrant, felted and embellished bracelets
Fabulous all enveloping wraparound French style aprons with a twist for men and women
Freestyle embroidered brooches
Contemporary textile art pictures (with patchwork, embroidery and knitting we focus on freestyle stitching and use fraywork and selvedges)
Kooky textile small accessories (ranging from rings to bookmarks)
Hand knitted gadget covers with a twist
Quirky individual rag dolls made with vintage and Japanese fabrics

What we enjoy most about our work is that we love our homes and derive great satisfaction from making beautiful things for them and for ourselves to wear. We both have a love of colour, texture and quality and are prepared to pay for good quality and impeccable style.  In fact, it is this penchant for all things fabulous (Anthropologie being a particular weakness!) that has necessitated the launch of Stitch & Loop as a provider of the means to fund our shopping habits!

We have sold at one other market over this Christmas period and stock three shops: Strawberry in Chichester, Rare Rabbit in Arundal and Vintage Rose in Storrington.

Five words that sum up Christmas; well they would have to be: log fires, mulled wine, cosiness, snow and love.

Meet The Chintzy Teacup at Barties!

Please introduce yourself and what you create:

My name is Clare and I am the Chintzy Teacup Company which makes vintage teacup candles. The crockery is sourced from around Sussex and then I hand dye and scent each individual candle. Each candle is wrapped in undyed tissue paper and then housed in a beautiful gold box. I sell them for £8 each.

Are you looking forward to selling at Bartie’s and do you have some lovely festive gifts ready for everyone to buy?

My candles make perfect gifts. I have lots of vintage cups that are highly decorative this season and when combined with a beautiful wax colour they look very Christmassy! Think gold leaf patterned tea cups with red candles scented with gardenia and rose though to delicate vintage Japanese bone china with a fresh bluebell scented ivory candle. There will be something to suit all tastes!

image-1

What do you enjoy most about your craft?

I enjoy all aspects from sourcing the teacups through to the alchemy of matching a crockery design with the perfect coloured dye.

Are you selling at any other markets over the festive period?

Yes I sold at The Brighton Garden Centre Christmas market on 1 December and am selling at the Big Brighton Christmas Fair at the Sallis Benney Theatre on the 8th December.
